Fire 🔥, Mid, or Trash 🗑️?: A Monday Night RAW 4/17/23 Match Review

Fire 🔥, Mid, or Trash 🗑️?: A Monday Night RAW 4/17/23 Match Review

Rey Mysterio vs Solo Sikoa

Headline: “Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline carries out the hit on Rey Mysterio and the L.W.O. ”.

Result: Solo Sikoa via pin fall

Verdict: Mid

Editors Take: This was a standard match where the bigger point was the proceeding story of the Bloodline hiring The Judgement Day and vice versa to take out common enemies in the L.W.O.,  Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle. This match was used to tell the story that would be paid off by the end of the night.

Bianca Bel Air vs Dakota Kai

Headline: “Dakota Kai pays the price to fill out Io Sky’s scouting report”.

Result: Dakota Kai wins via pin fall

Verdict: Mid

Editors Take: Much like the match that started RAW, this match was an “OK” match used to further a bigger story where Io Sky used Dakota Kai’s match as an opportunity to scout the weaknesses of Bianca Bel Air to take advantage of her in their match at Backlash.

Seth Rollins vs The Miz

Headline: ”In a loss, The Miz shows why he’s a Hall of Famer and not a joke”.

Result: Seth Rollins wins via pin fall

Verdict: FIRE 🔥

Editors Take: This was a fucking banger! This, by far, was the match of the night! I don’t know what Seth and The Miz spoke about prior to the match, but its clear they both came out with the goal of stealing the show and they did the damn thing.

Bobby Lashley vs Austin Theory

Headline: “Bobby Lashley has bigger problems than Austin Theory”.

Result: Bobby Lashley wins via DQ

Verdict: Mid

Editors Take: Furthering stories has been the theme of the night. This match will probably go down as a DQ victory for Lashley, but Reed clearly squashed Theory first. It will be good when we get to see a full math between the big men and one has to wonder if the United States title will be roped into this feud.

Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville vs Candice LeRae and Michin

Headline: “The Lights are on but Nobody is Home: Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville win a bout that should’ve been a dark match”.

Result: Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville wins via pin fall

Verdict: Trash 🗑️

Editors Take: I’m sorry…..The women’s division is in dire need of a shake up. The creation of the Women’s Tag Team Titles was born out of good nature but its time for them to go the way of the 24/7 Title. There are no legitimate women’s tag teams on the main roster. If WWE isn’t going to call up more actual women’s tag teams from NXT and start developing new ones, there is no point in these titles existing. Right now, the WWE women’s tag division is just a collection of women with nothing else better to do. That has to change.

Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle vs The Judgement Day

Headline: “The good guys win but chaos ensues”.

Result: Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle win via pin fall

Verdict: FIRE 🔥

Editors Take: The match itself was pretty good but the post-match brawl  is what gives this match its FIRE desgnation. Who doesn’t like a good ole’ fashion brawl?

Overall verdict for RAW 4/17/23: Mid
